I believe God will help to provide us with the strength to overcome
Welcome friends to this blog. As we prepare for the birth of our child I am hoping this will first help my wife to see the power of fellowship and help me in strengthening my faith. While I am in the "Bob Hughs" positive mode almost all the time, I am feeling tired and worn down over the last few weeks. I know that if I am feeling this way, Jennifer is probably feeling more so. This is probably due to me trying to stay so positive and constantly pushing myself. I hope you will provide us with your thoughts through comments on the blog and keep us in your prayers.

The diagnosis
In February Heartland referred us to Children's Mercy-St. Luke's because they felt the heart was not forming as it should. After a 2 hour sonogram the cardiologist determined that her ventricle valve was closed. They explained that the course of action would be that she would be put on medication after she was born to keep the blood flowing through a hole that otherwise would quickly close after birth. During the first week she would have bypass surgery, followed by open heart surgery at 5-6 months. Then at 3 years she would have open heart surgery again. They will know more about the direct course of actions after examining her.
Dr. Gowdamarajan did an excellent job descibing the course of action.

This blogs purpose
I am creating this blog to assist our family through a very joyous and possible difficult time. I also want to introduce many to the internet in a manner never done before. While some are familiar with online journals, other are not. This is a blog. Have fun. Comment until your hearts content. This is also a form of therapy.
