Richard Dawkin's Book

Currently I am listening to Richard Dawkin's book the "God Delusion." This is a fascinating work. This gentleman's purpose is to turn believers into atheists. His arguments I have heard before and he works to address these in a seemingly logical order. The problem is, the arguments against a Creator rely not on evidence but on a set of beliefs as well. Ultimately, you must accept this line of reason with Faith as well.

I remember reading Dan Brown's The DaVinci Code, and how many people apolosticized their faith as a result of this work. The God Delusion could achieve this same purpose.

An interesting note is that in the beginning of the book, Dawkins uses the same argument Rush Limbaugh uses in his Liberal vs. Conservative sales pitch. That argument is found in most of his books, but particularly in "The Way Things Ought to Be." That is if you are on the other side, you will not get this because your mind is closed. This is just one similarity I had found.

I will post more about this book as I progress through it.

Fall Garage Sale

With nearly 15 families items, Jennifer has been up till 2AM every night getting ready for the Fall garage sale. Tons of stuff. While I poke fun at the extremes that she goes to, the nice thing about it is that is the same intensity she goes about our relationship. Thank you God for bringing her into my life!

On another note, God is working hard in our church. The great thing is that we are sensitive to what God is saying as the Holy Spirit groans.

Pastor appreciation Month. What wonderful Pastors our family has.
Pastor Scott has been blessed with a caring heart, a deep knowledge of the Bible, and ministry partner my wife loves...namely Dee Dee. I am the fortunate one to be teamed up with him.

Pastor Mike. What can I say here. God has once again brought someone into my life at the right time. He is passionate about the Bible, about the Church, and the wonders of God.

Jessica. Just what our family needed. I didn't think I would meet another person that has more intensity and energy than my wife. However, there is a problem; if Jennifer and Jessica would go all out on a project there may be a power grid that blanks out or something. Maybe yet, their combined energy might be seen from satellites in space. The kids are Jessica's focus and her gifts are aligned in that area.

Catch him doing something right

I am a big beleiver in catching kids doing things right, especially your own kids. It takes training to do this, because our culture is cynical and always looks for what is wrong.

Dylan the other day at the Post Office, instinctively held the door open for me...and two other people. The people waited on Dylan to let the door shut, not even thinking this little kid would "hold the door" for them. When we got in the car, I told Dylan "You know, I am really proud of the choice you made back there; holding the door for those people." He quickly replied "I know."

I thought how funny that was. You know even when we know what someone else feels about what we are doing, how it still is important to catch him doing things right. This was all after he waited in line with Aubrey fro nearly twenty minutes, patiently and quietly.

I also catch him doing things wrong though too. I make a choice on how I address it with him. These are learning opportunities, I always feel. I chance for him to think about alternatives to the choice he has made.

Overall, this kids heart is too big for his body. Love Dad.
