Nearing the end of the semester

I have to say that I am gaining more from Park U. than I possibly thought I would. John Cookinham is definitely an awesome mentor, and I am not just saying that because he went to bat to line up this teaching gig for me. He has demonstrated a dedicated teaching style, as well as Finney, Soule, Paskelian, and Fitzmorris.

The teaching gig is AWESOME. I am sure I have learned more than the students. I can see why professors don't give big projects with alot of other work:) I have been impressed by some of the work of the students thus far.

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!

Back on pace

After completing Faith and Politics, by one of my favorite politicos Senator Jack Danforth this ummer, I am returning to the topic of reconciliation and the book by President Jimmy Carter. I will see how much alike these two men, if the books give any additional insights.

Also the market did extremely well this week for us.

Kids: This is an important lesson

Well I used to think that raising Kids was going to be the most important thing I would ever do. Before any of you were born, I thought be good and loyal to you Mom was the most important.

I really have felt God "working" to bring me around, to mold me to who he wants. I am gauging this because I am noticing more and more things. I am also gauging this because He has brought someone into my life that has challenged me to grow. Even though I have been busy with work, you kids, remodeling the house; I have felt challenged not only my Mike but by God to take things "to the hoop" so to speak. To break out of my comfort zone. Not to be a Secret Agent Christian:) - I always thought this was quite and it describes me when I was scared and made excuses for not being open about my faith.

So what is the most important thing I could do? That would be to continually give God the glory and to seek to know him better. I have came along way from who or where I used to be. Sometimes I think I have done it all on my own, but I quickly see that I would have failed if it was for his hand in the matter. I am called to be an effective witness to the work of Jesus Christ. I have been seeking God, but what I have found out was that I really haven't been. I was merely finding ways to justify myself. Since we found out about your sister diagnosis, I have found God has been searching for me....for all us. For no one seeks God, but he seeks us. What a relief!

In raising you kids or being a husband to your Mom, its about what I do not about what I say. What I say is important though, but not as important as what I am doing. Thank God, I have been given the opportunity to raise you up.

Market Clearing it's excess

The market is taking care of excess both in the equities market and the housing market. I believe that in the next few years we will see the effects of the ethanol subsidies coming to fruition as far as outstripping the productive yields of the American croplands.

School is going well, teaching is going well, and planning for the next big "move" in our lives; regardless of what it is I am not getting any younger.

Flags of Our Fathers by James Brady

As I have been jogging at night I have been listening to a book by James Brady called "Flags of our Fathers." It is a story of the six men on Mt. Suribachi. It is truly remarkable and fascinating. Although on a different front, my Grandfather Glenn, fought in some bloody battles. I have been speaking with him over the last few years about that, gathering info as it comes out, and learning alot about a time in history those men still don't want to think about.

Abraham Lincoln

I am into this book now about Abe Lincoln. It also discusses the formation of the Republican party and quite a bit on Chase, Seward, Bates, and others. History books are fascinating.

"Ike" Book

In studying about some of the battle Grandpa Hughs had been in. These are a few listed on his discharge papers. Grandpa was in the 134th part of the 35th. He fought in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Ardennes. The Ardennes is better known as the Battle of the Bulge. Anyway I just finished this book by Eisenhower's son John, who himself went on to be a Brig. Gen.

I am so fortunate to ever be alive. One side in Europe and my Grandma's family in the bombing in Hiroshima.
